What's It All About?

We need your HELP! We are looking for children with Chronic or Persistent Pain (ages 7-12) and their parent(s) to participate in a study run by the National University of Ireland Galway. We are designing a pain management programme for children - done on a computer - and we need your help to get started.

Who Can Take Part?

Children with any type of chronic or persistent pain including abdominal pain, back pain, musculoskeletal pain, headache and combined or widespread pains and their parent(s) are invited to participate. Your views and personal experiences are extremely valuable and your input will greatly enhance our research in the development of an intervention for children who suffer with chronic pain.

Hmmm, I'm Interested....

What Happens Next?

This involves either one meeting in groups of children and groups of parents or an individual interview in a convenient location, whichever you prefer. You will be helping us decide what would work best for this type of treatment programme. We will show you a computer-based programme designed to support pain management and you will be invited to give feedback, based on your personal experiences of chronic pain management. Group sessions and individual interviews will be fun, informal and interactive, lasting approximately 30-40 minutes. Children will receive a small reward as a token of our appreciation for their contribution to this research.
